Visit to DMC

Pictures taken at the DMC Gallery.

DIDM Korea study trip day 3 and 4

Day 3 and 4 of the trip was pretty interesting. We went to the Korea University of arts and saw some nice artworks and also some of their facilities like their various studios and classrooms which were pretty much bigger and somewhat better than the ones we have in singapore. The next destination after that was the Taewool Entertainment which specializes in MMO games. It was interesting to see how they made their graphic engines and animations and models using the tools they have and also having their engine made by russians which showed some teamwork between the 2 countries. They also said that the average time to make a game is at least 4 years for them.

The trip to Seoul animation centre was also interesting and showed us some of the creativity in implementing technology in some bits of our lives like the men's toilet which they replaced the background of the urinal with a screen and a game. They also have programmes for students and kids where they teach them animations including stop motion animation. Next was Hongik university where it showed us how the students there study and work with the facilities built. Some of the classrooms pretty much reminded me of RP.

The next place we visited was the Sangam Digital Media City where they feature the latest in upcoming digital media tech and also their vision of a city with advanced media that can help and make people's lives more easier by implementing various technologies into parts of the city. The technologies they showcased were pretty cool and interesting and hope that some of the tech they showed would be implemented in singapore too.

DayFour

The forth day we visited three different places.
First stop – Seoul Animation Centre. The centre provides animation classes for various ages, production support and of course they do focus on animation database. Interestingly, both Ironman2 and Avatar conference were held over at their place.

Second stop – Hongik University. Well, basically we tour around the university. To compare this to the previous University that we visited the previous day, I think this university tour was quite dull and boring. Basically, they just show us the environment of how a typical Korean university student study and the pieces of art work that they produce. They do even sell their art pieces by auctioning it.
Last stop – Digital Media City. This was interesting as the centre provide some insight scoop of the future of Korea. Well, we get the chance to try out all their creativity innovation that they plan to set up by 2015 and I shall say that some of their innovation was quite cool while some I can’t fully see the usefulness of the innovation. However, I thought that the bus stop innovation was cool as we get the chance to view the traffic condition, get to know the weather forecast and much more and I think Singapore should have one too so that I won’t be late for my class !

Korea Trip Day 4

Last Day of study trip in Korea!
fun fun and fun! ^^
went to 3 different places to visit.
1st destination is the Seoul Animation Centre.
There is alot of fun interactive games for us to play and at the same time, learn more about their company and how they improved over the years.

the 2nd destination is the Hongik University.
we were brought around to see the facilities and it is more or less similar to Republic Poly.
the classrooms, chairs, tables, and computer workstations.

The 3rd destination is DMC, Digital Media City.
There is example of a futuristic city in our near future. The convenient zebra-crossing, as well as the informative e-board were both outstanding innovative ideas.

3.30am already.. gdnite! (:
Last day of our study trip in Korea - first place that we had visited was the Seoul animation center. The place is filled with amazing and interesting stuff and the work done by the professionals. It's good to see how their animation skills had grew throughout the years.

"Aim and shoot" cubicles found in the male toilet

After we were done with Seoul animation center, we paid a visit to "Hongik University".
Well the place does give us the feel of what we're going to do in the future if we happen to pursue further in our studies as a media student.

Lastly, "Digital Media City" which I realized that the place was almost like our "Singapore Science Center". The place is filled with amazing technology that blew our mind totally. It shows the design of the "futuristic city" in Korea and I'm sure it'll become a new attraction for the tourists.
