Di KOREA on the 2nd Day

HI, my name is farhan and on the 2nd day of my trip to Korea was awesome and I get to visit historical place, play with the classic game and visit Picotstudio.

So I will let the picture do the mumbling....

So this was when we went to Pictostudio to learn about 2/3d animation, clay motion and stop motion animation. Bascialy they used photoshop and plasticine to work all this animation out. It was indeed quite cool when it is done but you need to patience to do it.

This was in the historical place where we learn about Korean history. It was quite boring but our handsome tour guide, Jimmy make it interesting by telling us some 'jokes'.

The fish were given honey star to eat

Other than that, the food was quite yummy but not as delicious as the first day one where we get to eat Indian food cuisine. So to sum up the overall day, EXCITING!!!.

Signing off,

Although their company is small but all their workpiece impressed me.
.

DAY 1

Korea Trip Day 1 cum 2! ^^v

Hi Ladies and Gentleman,

Firstly, a very big welcome to Korea!

For Day 1, we went to various places of interest and a company called MBC. There is many expensive recording and shooting gadgets. Its similar to our DAV lab but much much more bigger and awesome! We also got a chance to see a radio live on air and the most popular DJ(as quoted from our tour guide) entertained us even though he is doing a segment halfway. A very funny guy indeed. One could not help not liking him! :x

Day 2 : We went to a Korea Musuem. There, we learned alot about their tradition and history. Its indeed an eye opener! After that, we went to PictoStudio. The company is doing stopmotion and animation. 2D,3D and Clay Animation is their forte. Even though their company is small, their hardwork is regconised by the public because their animation is indeed at a very top level. I'm very amazed when they are showing their company Showreel. I am very insipired after watching it.

This, marks our Day 1 cum Day 2!
Stay tuned for more updates! ❤

tired max! nites! :D

Second Day to Picto Studio

The second day in Korea was not as hectic as the first day. We went to the Picto Studio to know more about their company in doing the clay animation, 2d and 3d. We also know more about how clay animation was created and its process. It was an interesting experience, as we got the chance to see how they actually created the clay animation and the process of it. They also mix the clay animation which is as the character and the 2D animation as the background.

The process of clay making is firstly to brainstorm the ideas, do research on our final ideas, sketch out rough idea then come out with the piece. Not really sure of that though, but roughly that’s how normally we have to do in producing something. And also by what I see from the picto studio themselves. They actually sketch out from the research they made, and from there, they produce their pieces by using clay.

It was fun experience to get the chance to go to one of the well known Korea animation studio.

Day 2 in Korea(:

Today was a good day. We did have enough rest the day before, before going on with the trip. Hence we hardly fall asleep when the trip was getting around.
The day started off with some sight-seeing. It was great for me as we get to like motivate ourselves before going to all those study part. Going to the museum let all of us know some things about the Korean culture. We also get to see how the past Korean people use to live like.

Then we headed down to the Picto Studio. It’s quite tiring to walk up a bit on the uphill as it’s quite steep. The clay at the studio was cute and cool. It was amazing how they make the clay move like those in animation. Now I know that a lot of hard work is being put in just to do the animation with clay.

Besides the study part, the shopping was great for me. Till now, I still haven’t found anything to buy for myself. And the Korean food today was also better that yesterday, the one we had for lunch. At least I’m glad that I have the appetite to eat.

First day was MBC, which is one of Korea's top broadcasting companies. It deals with radio and television broadcast and we had the opportunity to see the recording studio used for the radio broadcast. They also have this special studio where it's nicely decorated because listeners can download and watch their DJs live from that studio. It's like live streaming.

After that we went to the recording studio for the television broadcast. It is mostly used for news and documentary. Over here in Korea, instead of using the green screen, they use the blue screen. There's also the camera that enhances everything by 10%. It will make you look bigger than you are, in real life.

Second day was the Pictostudio, which is one of Korea's top animation company. It started off as a clay animation specialist however, they expanded and started doing 3D because of the clay animation industry which is decreasing. They have done animations for KBS and SBS and are currently working on a new project called AEKO.

Clay sculptures are placed in the blue screen area and are put into their positions, then for every of their movement, they are being photographed. Quite a tedious process because after all that it is then being edited and made into animation using the appropriate programs.

DayOne and DayTwo

We visited Picto animation company which show us how about they create an animation show through various ways. They have rooms for constructingthe character or the environment of their animation show which they create most of their thing using hard colourful clay. They also use the flash and adobeto enhance the animation show. Currently Picto which was first establish in 1998 is currently focus in producing AEKO as it is one of their biggest currentproject. They created animation for KFC too. They mainly create their character by hard colourful clay. There are a lot of variety character placed in their company.

While for the first day, we visited the MBC and get to see how the production team work to produce a fabulous show. We get the chance to see some of the deejay's who were live on air and at the same time I get to understand better how they do actually work. They also have the bluescreen which mainly use such like for the weather forecast. Before the presenter presents the news, they place a manniquin to replace the presenter so that the presenter would know the outcome of it by looking at the manniquin.

Phy In Korea Day 2

Today visit PICTO studio, at first I thought it's a big studio but it a small office. Although small working place, all KBS & SBS clay, 2D and 3D animation were done there. It was very interesting how they did all their animation an stop motion projects. They told us some is a combination of 2D and clay while some is plainly just clay, clay animation need more time and more money than 2D and 3D animation/stop motion. Picto projects are very attractive especially when I saw their clay model on the displace corner. The idea they come up to design the characters is simple but the model is very beautiful and cute. They also show us that they used a customize model to make the characters joins work more flexible. The company works is very attractive and convicing in making us to have our IEP there. Definitely, we will learnt more from them! But it's impossible! >.<

day one and two

It was just the 2nd visiting places from the moment we arrived in korea, we went to seoul tower which made normal buildings and skyscrapers look like little models yet it was still a magnificent experience to be able to capture the whole of seoul just from one place. Couples shared their love and blessings with each other right on the ground level of seoul. I dont need to understand the words written on the locks but just by seeing so many couples coming to an area to proclaim their love, it's heartwarming enough. Later that afternoon, at MBC, i got to experience how the studios are like. What enlighten me the most was when the guy told us about Green screens and Blue screen, saying that lots of westerners have blue eyes, so they tend to use green screens more. But dont some westerners have Green eyes too? maybe they have a different shade of green eyes from the green screens. Hmmmm..................

Definitely more interesting that day one, it was day two at the palace museum and the old traditional korean house and picto studio. An eye opening experience of the childhood games they have which kind of reminded me of our very own singapore's kampong games like 5 stones and chaptek that my parents used to play when they were younger.
Right at picto studio, it's kind of surprised me that the studio is just a small simple office cause i was expecting a big studio since they've won many awards for the animations. In one of the rooms that they placed one of their projects was a huge 3D clay model that looked like the old palace that i saw earlier today. What amazed me was not only their handiwork but they only took 3 weeks to create what i saw today. definitely a tedious piece of work that needs lots of passion from the people who did it.

Day 1 and Day 2 - Victor Phua

Day 1 - Visit to MBC (Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation)

I felt that the News Station and the Radio Station are somewhat similar in their broadcasting. They both make use of in-door studios to carry out their broadcasting, through several equipments; like mikes, control panels and scripts. Usually the director or the editor will pass instructions to the news broadcastor or the DJ that is situated on the inside; who is currently relaying the news/broadcast.

This video cam is used to feature and capture the programs' films and programs that is being showcased and broadcasted.
I feel that the visit to the MBC is quite good, as I am amazed at how the direction and the broadcasting of the radios and television is being carried out. I never knew what is done prior to a particular program or news anchor. I am also amazed at one of the DJs, who is rather entertaining and amusing; perhaps one of the traits that defines a good DJ?

Day 2 - Visit to the Picto Studio

Today, I learnt about what goes into the clay and styrofoam which is being used to apply into animation concepts. I find it fascinating that just by from CLAY !

Usage of clay can be done professionally into a lifelike 2D or 3D object and thus, used in animation; all just by moulding clay into different directions and positions in order to be animated.

One of the masterpieces created using a combination of clay, styrofoam and some certain chemicals, as well as various other types of equipments.

Blue Screen seems to be significant as a 2D backdrop for reflecting certain effects of some areas in an animation; exactly, what its being done in films at the MBC.

Showing how they create the design for the earlier masterpiece, except its for a mountain area.

So far, this visit to Picto Studio is a great one. I am awed by all of those quite realistic clay figurines and of how they made the animation more lifelike and real ! Their current production, which has been shown to us as an animated video, is pretty good and nice to see. The animation is really awesome that it sure takes alot of teamwork, effort, passion and patience to create such wonderful arts of animations. It is good learning on how they created such excellent clay figurines and on how they did their animations; the processes and everything. I am impressed by many of their masterpieces, which are really good; everything is noted down to the smallest details. I have learnt on how many of the processes works and on how they are really done.

JASON hongyusheng part2

day 2. When to picto studio. The company was pretty small but impressive. total of 10 member in the company including the CEO. thousand of clay characters over there. And something interest me is that each of the member have a cage of hamster on their table. so my conclusion is that the job is tough because they got to spend night rushing the animation in the company and therefore they keep a pet each. shopping in korean was fun. Everyone enjoy spending money over there.
