Junhao 1st 2nd day trip to Korea!

1st day to Korea
----------------
Shortly after we arrived in Korea, we headed towards the Old tradition house for Korean(village), but we are unlucky as they are closed on tuesday. So after that we headed towards the Seoul Tower. The place was really breezy and cold, I'm lucky I came to Korea for this study trip, as the weather just surprised you so much. We went on top of the Seoul Tower to see a wide view shot of Korea itself. You can see that it is totally different from Singapore, It is being widely spreaded on 360 degree. The building structure that they have was really very nice, and it just seems to be a lovely painting. Did not really have much study around there as it was just viewing of scenary. But I saw something which is really interesting, they had small cement of a square shape on the wall, it is pasted on the wall. They write all their lover's wishes on it. It is an eye opener. I also saw the next one, which is the lover lock. They had a lock attached to the wire tree and write their wishes on it. It was romantic and nice, wish Singapore had something like that, it will be the next hit thing on the romance list.
After this, we proceed on to the MBC Korea, to see how broadcasting are actually made succesfully. The MBC started in 1961. It is a very nice building which has alot of facilities that supports the radio broadcast well. It has 4 recording rooms and 9 live rooms. When the place is on air, it means the radio is recording during live broadcasting, they uses the APC system.
They also had two computers to see the reaction of the viewers. The producers and writer will send information to the MC's information with mikes. They also had musical instrument just in case of live performance by the stars. They also had another rooms with equipment for sound effects during voice over or when they had drama going on inside. They also had a section which places all those golden mouth and bronze mouth on the wall. You need to work at least 20 years to attain golden mouth and 10 years for bronze, there is no silver mouth though. Next, they had 4 studios, and the B studio are used for newscasting and entertainment.
The magic studio uses blue screen for wearther forcasting and other which requires backdrop that is being generated from the computer. The camera also makes actor look 10% big in size. It was a really great experience for me as I feel that radio broadcasting had make a change in everyone's life, and it is good to know the thing that is going behind when a broadcasting is made. The MC's and the person being interviewed really enjoy their time in the room doing all the emotions and also actions necessary to bring the mood to what they wanted.
Thats all for first day.

2nd day to Korea
----------------
Today we went to 3 historical places. It was really awesome as we get to see and experience not really first hand, but second hand of what korea traditional lifestyle is about.
We went to the museum of korean tradition. It was really an eye opener. As from there, I get to see many history information of Korea itself.
Able to see scrolls from the past, the old cameras, the historical place of Korea which is now surrounded by tall buildings, the small little pieces of information about Korea which has been there from the past till now.
It was cool to see the museum, as I had not been much of a fan of museum, but this museum really attracts me, and it also had many different places which hold alot of different information itself also.
After the museum, we proceed on to the castle which is near it. They said it is built before the forbidden city and the forbidden city actually did their design from the castle as well.
The castle also had the 5 most important colours which is Red, Yellow, Blue, White and Black. The colours actually represent something on their own. For example, the white is actually the metal. The tour guide says that when the king dies, their son will automatically become the king. Thus, they do not have homes for the king's father. But yet, there is home for the king's mother, apparently they had more authority then the king. It also says that the king almost all die at a young age due to exhaustion of too much sex. Thats why king lives at ages from 30-40. It is a funny fact, I supposed. The castle was really big and there is so much steps for us to walk up and down. They also had a small black gate at the bottom of their home, and when you opened it, it is a hole inside. When it is winter, and they wanted to keep the room warm, they will put a hot stone in the hole and warm up the room. But they had to make hot another stone and change the stone at 5am next morning, as it will be cold by then.
We went to see the traditional home of the Korean(village), I did not know that whether they are still living in traditional home now. Jimmy said that the village we are visiting are actually for high rank officers, but it was definitely nice. We get to play some of the old traditional games that they play. Like a game called the tou, it is throwing stick like object into one of the 3 hole. Next they also have tops, which you maintain its rotation by using a whip. There is also a game, which consists of players jumping up and down on a long plane of wood. The game is really intense as you need to catch the right moment to jump.
Next we headed to see the traditional homes. It was said by Jimmy that the girl at age 16 had to move out of their house to a smaller house so that she can learn how to survive on her own and also learn the skills of embroidary. Guys at age 7 are not able to live with their mother and sisters anymore, they are supposed to live with the father and brothers. The guys do not have something in their house which the ladies have, it is the kitchen, as guys do not cook. They rather die then cook, cause if a guy cook, it proves that the guy is not a man afterall.
After all of this, we went to Picto Studio today. It is the most well known stop motion company in Korea itself. It was really exciting when I step into their office. They had all their works being exhibited outside on shelf, poster and also in frames. We had to see a short video about all the stop motion movie they had done. I know that the Picto studio had been here for 10 years, they made stop motion mainly for kids. They used claymation, and they had been improvising themselves by using 3D and 2D animation as well. As they said that stop motion is really hard to survive in Korea, as it uses alot of time and money to produce thus using other elements might actually help in giving their company a better results. This could also be one of the impact which could be brought to the animation inndustry. As stop motion incorparated with 2D and 3D animation should have a very wonderous outcome.
They also had steps to prepare for stop motion. First they need to made a storyboard, next, design the character through photoshop via a wacom. After that, they need to make a model out of it using clay in 3D effect. Next, after double confirming the model its done, it will be made on an amateur, which is the wiring or the skeleton of the character. Next they had to make different emotions for it. The use of an amateur for me is so that the characters hand and legs can move freely, they also set a body structure to the character itself. After that, they would make the backdrop or objects with probably sand, rubber, styrofoam. They would proceed on to taking pictures of the character with a blue screen behind. This is necessary for stop motion as they needed alot of shots to put them together. One of the well known commercial stop motion that they did was the KFC, we haven't had the chance to see the KFC CF that they did, but I guess It is really good. All thanks to the crew that is behind supporting them like the Artist, Designers, Photographer, Editor and also those who do the small little works.
