During the first day in Seoul, we went to MBC and from there, I learn that there are different rooms in the studio. The first place we went to was the recording room where we found out that the recording studio was created by the Japanese to brainwash the Koreans, however, the radio was too expensive for Koreans and therefore, the method was unsuccessful. What they do in the studio is not only recording on air, but they also have another room that actually have cars as well. This room is meant for creating sound effects and therefore, all the sounds made are more from that room. After that, we went to see the recording done by the two reporters and the room is actually sound proof. Following that is the wall of golden mouth awards. It is unique as it shows all those people who put in effort in the company. I think it is very cool as we can also hear their broadcast when we press the certain button. After that, we went back to the first level and went into one of their studio where they record documentaries.
They have a blue screen as a backdrop so that they are able to change the background easily, and because of the blue screen, the actors and actresses should not wear blue as the colour will be invisible. However, in USA, they use a green background as most of the people there have blue eyes and if they use a blue background, the colour of their eyes will be invisible when the background is being replaced. For all of these recordings, they use large cameras, like this and the set will usually be 10% smaller as when taken through the camera, the objects will become 10% bigger.
During the second day, we went to Pictostudios.
When we went in, they showed us a clip on what they were doing, which was about what they were doing. They were actually doing clay animations, 2D animation and 3D animation. They have many different animations that are already created. To create an animation, we have to know our model, our storyboard, and plan out our ideas, later putting all that is planned into work. If the colour of the clay cannot be found, two colours can be mixed to create the expected colour. In Pictostudios, almost the whole studio is filled with artists and only 3 other staffs. They create different models for different places, like the museum, and they create using objects like sponges, cloth and sticks, besides using clay. They also have the metal model, which is used for part of the animation, so that they can see exactly how it works and how to balance the size of the model before creating.
These are what I learn during these 2 days in Seoul.
